North Carolina Association of Supervisors in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

Emily has 16 years of experience as an SLP, including 13+ years supervising students. She’s worked in a variety of settings: as an independent contractor, in school and healthcare systems, and at the university level, teaching several courses including clinical practicums. She has presented about clinical education at the state and national level, and has served leadership roles at the state and national level as well. She has been a member of NCASSPA for 13 years, 9 of which have been spent serving on the board.
At the 2023 NCSHLA Convention, Emily was recognized not only by NCASSPA, but also by colleagues and students, some of whom wrote nominations for the award. A common theme across those letters of recommendation was the connections she makes, both with her clients and with her student clinicians. They talked about her passion for her work, and her empowering drive to go above and beyond, while still balancing family responsibilities and her own pursuit of higher education. They described her as kind, selfless, and overall, an excellent role model.
Congratulations, again, to Emily Hamuka!
